Get to know Neurointerventional Surgeon and Neuroradiologist Dr. Jimmy Ghostine, who serves patients throughout the State of Florida.

Dr. Ghostine is an experienced neurointerventional surgeon and neuroradiologist practicing at HCA Florida Aventura, Kendall and Westside in the greater Miami area  as well as Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida.

With leadership in hospitals’ and healthcare systems’ governance, from improvement of protocols to development of policies, Dr. Ghostine is actively involved in the systems of care his patients use. 

Dr Ghostine makes use of  minimally invasive techniques to treat vascular disorders of the brain and spine. Some of the most common procedures that he performs include embolization of aneurysms, AVMs and fistulas, treatment of subdural hematomas, carotid stenting, and mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke. He also diagnoses injuries and diseases using medical imaging techniques such as X-Rays, magnetic resonance imaging, and computed tomography exams. 

In his academic career, Dr. Ghostine graduated with his Medical Degree from the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. He then went on to perform his internship at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, a residency in neurosurgery then diagnostic radiology at The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont, and his fellowship at the University of Montreal, CHUM Hospital.

Board certified in neuroradiology and diagnostic radiology, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics. 

Starting in 2017, Dr. Ghostine has held the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal. 

He holds medical advisory roles at multiple Medetech startups, to keep improving the field of Neurointervention and Neuroradiology. 

In his ongoing pursuit of professional growth, he maintains active memberships in several prestigious organizations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American Society of Neuroradiology, the American Heart Association, and the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery. 

Having made significant contributions to the field of neurosurgery, Dr. Ghostine is recognized as a Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) and possesses the esteemed Recognition of Focused Practice (RFP) designation awarded by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

Neurointerventional Surgery focuses on the diagnosis, characterization and minimally invasive treatment of abnormalities of the central and peripheral nervous system, spine, and head and neck using neuroimaging guidance. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Ghostine is the proud father of 3 children, is fluent in English, French, Arabic, and is working on improving his Spanish.
