Get to know Neuroscientist Dr. John A. Gallien, who serves patients in California.

Dr. Gallien, a highly-trained neuroscientist, is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Cell and Tissue Biology at the University of California San Francisco.

Schooled in the United States, Dr. Gallien graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University in 2012. He then went on to earn his Master of Science degree from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2016, his Master of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 2018, and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Neuroscience from Central Michigan University in 2021.

Furthering his training, he served as an intern at Martin Neurobehavioral Center, a clinical graduate fellowship at Michigan Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities, and as both a graduate teaching assistant and graduate research assistant at Central Michigan University.

Staying up to date in his field, Dr. Gallien is an active member of the Society for Neuroscience, the National Academy of Neuropsychology, the American Psychological Association, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. 

His areas of research include glioblastoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, pancreatic cancer, Huntington’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, ischemic stroke, and polyamidoamine dendrimers.

A neuroscientist (or neurobiologist) is a scientist who has specialized knowledge in neuroscience, a branch of biology that deals with the physiology, biochemistry, psychology, anatomy and molecular biology of neurons, neural circuits, and glial cells and especially their behavioral, biological, and psychological aspect in health and disease.

Among his philanthropic endeavors, Dr. Gallien is involved with Shriners Hospitals for Children and Toys for Tots. 

As he proceeded through 8 years of graduate school and onto his postdoctoral fellowship, he attributes his success to the unconditional support of his family.
