With over 60 years of experience in his field, Dr. Linfoot is recognized as one of the most experienced endocrinologists in the United States. He is currently serving patients at the Diabetes and Endocrine Institute in Lafayette, California. The Institute is comprised of board-certified professionals who are experts in managing patients’ health, with a focus on endocrinology. They help to treat a variety of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disorders, and hypopituitarism following post traumatic head injury.

Dr. Linfoot’s distinguished career in medicine began in 1955 when he received his Bachelor of Medicine and Master’s degrees in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of North Dakota. Thereafter, he graduated with his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1957, before completing his internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Linfoot served as Clinical Professor Emeritus at the University of California in Davis, California.

Dr. Linfoot is board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, as well as in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Furthermore, he is board-certified in nuclear medicine by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine (ABNM).

For 20 years, Dr. Linfoot was a research associate and senior staff scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, where he directed the patient care and laboratory programs for patients undergoing heavy ion pituitary irradiation at the 184-inch synchrocyclotron. The pituitary irradiation program employed magnetically focused pituitary irradiation for patients with pituitary tumors, diabetic retinopathy, and metastatic breast cancer. Dr. Linfoot subsequently developed endocrine testing laboratories and treatment centers at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley and at Providence Hospital in Oakland, California before starting his private practice.

Dr. Linfoot is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the American Diabetes Association.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and determine the severity of or to treat a variety of diseases, including many types of cancers and other abnormalities within the body.
