John A. Rumberger, Ph.D, MD, FACC, MSCCT: One of the World’s Top Cardiologists and a Leading Authority on CT Angiography

Pioneering Mobile Healthcare Solutions for Heart Disease Diagnosis

Southfield, Michigan – Corazon Imaging is proud to announce the appointment of John A. Rumberger, Ph.D, MD, FACC, MSCCT, as its Medical Director. Dr. Rumberger brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Corazon Imaging, a mobile healthcare start-up that revolutionizes heart disease diagnostics through advanced, non-invasive outpatient technologies. With a stellar career that includes leadership roles at the Princeton Longevity Center and the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Rumberger is poised to impact Michigan’s healthcare landscape significantly.

Corazon Imaging aims to enhance accessibility to coronary diagnostics by offering cutting-edge Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) technology, including the innovative Fractional Flow Reserve — Computed Tomography (FFR-CT). This non-invasive procedure assesses the severity and location of coronary artery obstructions, facilitating timely and accurate diagnoses for patients at risk of heart disease. Additionally, CCTA is used to look at the structure and function of the heart itself.  The unique Corazon Imaging CCTA report from Dr. Rumberger and his consortium of seasoned Level III Clinical Cardiologists provides additional guidance for referring primary care physicians regarding heart disease diagnostics, preventive strategies, and/or next clinical steps.

Dr. Rumberger’s esteemed career is marked by his extensive fellowship training in cardiology/preventive medicine and an impressive portfolio of nearly 500 publications, underscoring his contributions to the field. As a founding member and incorporator of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, he has been instrumental in advancing the science of using Cardiac CT to diagnose heart disease. Regarding using CCTA to evaluate coronary artery disease, his current utilization of FFR-CT, identification of ‘high-risk’ plaque, and atherosclerotic plaque quantitation exemplify his commitment to leveraging technology to enhance patient care at Corazon Imaging.

“FFR-CT  has transformed my practice, allowing me to provide superior patient care and achieve better outcomes,” said Dr. Rumberger. “I am sincerely grateful for this invaluable resource provided by Corazon Imaging. It has undoubtedly elevated my expertise and brought immense value to my clinical practice.”

Dr. Rumberger’s academic credentials are exemplary. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering (BAAE), Master of Science (MSc), and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 1972 and 1976, respectively. He then obtained his MD from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in 1978. Dr. Rumberger completed his internal medicine training at The Ohio State University from 1978-1981 and pursued a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Iowa from 1981-1984. After his fellowship, he joined the faculty at the University of Iowa. In 1987, he joined the Mayo Clinic as a Consultant in Internal Medicine & Cardiovascular Diseases, where he established himself as a leader in cardiac imaging and preventive medicine.

From 1998 to 2005, Dr. Rumberger served as Medical Director at various Wellness Diagnostic Centers in Columbus, Ohio, and elsewhere, specializing in using Cardiac CT in early coronary disease detection and diagnosis. He is also the author of “The Way Diet,” a guide focused on healthy dietary practices, exercise, and stress management. In 2001, he was appointed Clinical Professor of Medicine at Ohio State University.

Dr. Rumberger’s career continued at the Princeton Longevity Center as Director of Cardiac Imaging, where he made significant strides in patient care and trained cardiologists and radiologists to level II/III proficiency in cardiac CT. His professional affiliations include active membership in the American Heart Association, American Federation for Clinical Research, North American Society for Cardiac Radiology, and several other prestigious organizations, including Founding Membership of the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging and the Society of Cardiac Computed Tomography.

With Dr. Rumberger at the helm, Corazon Imaging is set to lead a new era in heart health diagnostics, making advanced technology accessible to patients across Michigan.
