Possessing a strong educational background, Dr. Cantando received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology from Temple University and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, Florida; his residency within the Department of Neurological Surgery at Western University of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific; and his fellowship in cerebrovascular/skull base surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.

Subsequent to his education, he attained board certification in neurological surgery and vascular neurology through the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS). The AOBS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the use of surgery to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

A Certified Instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Dr. Cantando is an active member of the Walter Dandy Neurosurgical Society, the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Society, the North American Skull Base Society, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the Psi Sigma Alpha Honor Society, the American Osteopathic Association, and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system.
