With more than forty years of experience in the full range of human performance and interactive systemic influences, his attention is focused on the body’s normal physiology altered by disease or injury. The interaction of the body with those external influences represents what has happened and guides the treatment to assist the body to achieve the fullest recovery possible. Patient education coupled with collaborative treatment supports the best outcome for the patient. An informed patient is the best partner in the healing process, and Dr. Toerge strives to achieve an effective balance for the patient in this process.
Following the completion of his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University, Dr. Toerge went on to complete his internship at Chicago Osteopathic Hospitals & Medical Center. This was followed by his residency at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Subsequent to his education, he attained board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation becoming a Diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AOBPMR). The AOBPMR is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the treatment of patients with physical impairments or disabilities.
In recognition of his outstanding performance in his field, Dr. Toerge is a Fellow and active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
