Get to know Internist Dr. Johnny Wu.

Dr. Wu is a board-certified internist who currently serves as the Chief of Clinical Operations at Centurion, LLC in Vienna, Virginia. The company provides healthcare services to governmental agencies in a wide variety of patient care settings, including correctional facilities, state hospitals, juvenile facilities, and court systems. It operates in 17 states with 300 locations and 9,000+ employees. 

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Wu serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Prior to his current endeavors, he served as the Director of Medical Services for UConn Health Center’s Correctional Managed Health Care Program, and as the Regional Medical Director for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s University Correctional Health Care Program. 

Following the completion of his medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, Dr. Wu went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Seton Hall University School of Health and Medical Sciences’s affiliated hospital, Trinitas Hospital.

With years of experience in his field, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Furthermore, he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), a Fellow of the American College of Correctional Physicians (FACCP – serving on the Board of Directors), and a member of the American Medical Association.

Through the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, Dr. Wu earned the CCHP–P credential, which is designed to recognize expertise among physicians practicing in the specialized field of correctional health care. He also earned the CCHP-A credential, which recognizes Certified Correctional Health Professionals who have demonstrated excellence, commitment, and contribution to the field of correctional health care and their relative discipline or profession.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists.
