Dr. Saxe is a dedicated general surgeon with a special interest in hepatic, pancreatic, and endocrine surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid. He serves on the team of skilled providers at Naab Road Surgical Group in Indianapolis, Indiana.

With more than 50 publications to his name, Dr. Saxe also serves as the Program Director of the General Surgical Residency at St. Vincent Health in Indianapolis, Indiana. Prior to his current endeavors, he was the Director of Trauma and Critical Care at Sinai-Grace Hospital and a Professor of Surgery at Wayne State University in Detroit. What’s more, he was an immediate past Chair of the Ohio Committee on Trauma, as well as the Director of Surgical Research and a Professor of Surgery at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, where he held other leadership positions, including Associate Program Director and Interim Director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship.

After graduating from Wheaton College with a Bachelor of Science in biology, Dr. Saxe went on to earn his medical degree from Wayne State University. He then completed his residency in general surgery and his fellowship in trauma surgery at Wayne State. In addition to his extensive medical education, he holds a Master of Arts degree in religion from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Among the doctor’s achievements, he is board-certified in both surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge. 

In order to remain at the forefront of his challenging speciality, he maintains memberships with numerous professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons – Michigan Chapter, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Association for Academic Surgery, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Midwest Surgical Association, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the Christian Medical and Dental Associations, the American Medical Association, the Panamerican Trauma Society, the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Central Surgical Association, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.
