He is a part of the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, P.C., providing care to patients at Largo Medical Center in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Tacktill earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami Shores, Florida. He then went on to serve his residency at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach, followed by his fellowship at the Carilion Medical Center in Roanoke, Virginia. 

Following his training, the doctor became board-certified in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, whose mission is to protect and improve the health and welfare of the public by advancing the art and science of foot and ankle surgery.

Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the American Podiatric Medical Association, and the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine.
