A native of Buffalo, New York, Dr. Grisanti earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 1984. He then served as Chief Resident in internal medicine at Millard Fillmore Hospital from 1986 – 1987, and went on to complete a subspecialty fellowship in rheumatology before opening Buffalo Rheumatology and Medicine, PLLC with Dr. Mike.

An authority in his field, he is board-certified in rheumatology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

An active researcher, Dr. Grisanti is regularly invited to present his research, and has been extensively published in numerous medical journals. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Rheumatology, the American College of Physicians, and the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. He is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Rheumatologists, the National Osteoporosis Foundation, the Arthritis Foundation, and the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research.

Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists treat arthritis, autoimmune diseases and osteoporosis. There are more than 200 types of these diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, and tendonitis.

Voted by physicians of Western New York, Dr. Grisanti has won the coveted Castle Connolly’s Top Doctor Award the past seven consecutive years. He has also won the notable Doctor of the Year award several times, as voted by patients in the greater Western New York area.

On a more personal note, he is married to his wife, Laurie. His proudest accomplishment is being the father and family patriarch of three incredible young men: Peter, Joe, and Lucas.

Multi-talented, he is also a carpenter, sports enthusiast, and certified scuba diver. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, writing, cooking, and traveling. His bucket list includes writing a mystery novel and scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef.
