Dr. Cirrone is a skilled radiation oncologist who has made it his life’s work to help cancer patients. With a strong background in internal medicine, he has a deep understanding of the cancer treatment process and has honed his expertise in radiation oncology through rigorous training. 

Serving patients at their Patchogue and Setauket office locations, Dr. Cirrone is highly respected for his knowledge, expertise, and compassionate approach to patient care. He takes the time to understand each of his patients’ individual needs and works closely with them to develop the best treatment plan possible.

He is particularly interested in organ preservation protocols, which aim to eradicate cancer while preserving the function of the treatment site. He is committed to delivering the most precise and up-to-date treatments to his patients, using the latest technologies available.

Dr. Cirrone’s journey to becoming a radiation oncologist began with his education at Albany Medical College. He then went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital, which is affiliated with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. 

During his time at NSUH, he spent much of his time at MSKCC, where he first learned to care for cancer patients. This experience solidified his commitment to helping those suffering from cancer and inspired him to pursue further training in radiation oncology. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at Downstate University Hospital in Brooklyn, where he received excellent training in the field.

After completing his residency, Dr. Cirrone became an attending at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn. However, in 2000, he decided to move to Suffolk County and transfer to New York Cancer & Blood Specialists, where he has been practicing ever since. 

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The mission of the ABR is to serve patients, the public, and the medical profession by certifying that its diplomates have acquired, demonstrated, and maintained a requisite standard of knowledge, skill, and understanding essential to the safe and competent practice of diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

To boot, he is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, which is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Radiation oncology is a medical specialty that involves the controlled use of radiation to treat cancer. It is one of the three primary specialties, the other two being surgical and medical oncology, involved in the treatment of cancer. A radiation oncologist is a specialist physician who uses ionizing radiation in the treatment of cancer.
