Dr. Yu is a highly accomplished and respected medical professional, currently serving as the Vice Chairman of Academic Affairs and Professor of Radiology and Orthopedic Surgery at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. He is skilled in a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, and has expertise in the treatment of ankle, foot, knee, shoulder, and wrist injuries, as well as other musculoskeletal conditions.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Yu received his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine, completing his studies in 1987. After completing his internship at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, he returned to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for his residency in diagnostic radiology, which he completed in 1992. He then went on to complete a fellowship at the University of California, San Diego in 1993.

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

Serving on numerous national and international committees in multiple organizations, Dr. Yu is an active member of the American College of Radiology, the International Skeletal Society, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the Radiological Society of North America. He has also held leadership positions in various professional organizations, including serving as president of the American Society of Emergency Radiology from 2016 to 2017.

Furthermore, he received honorary fellow status from both the American Society of Emergency Radiology and the American College of Radiology, and was awarded the ASER Gold Medal in 2019 for his outstanding contributions to the field. 

In addition to his teaching and research achievements, Dr. Yu has played a prominent role in the field as an editor and editor-in-chief. He is currently the editor-in-chief of the Open Journal of Radiology, and has served on numerous editorial boards. He is also the sole author of the best-selling textbook Musculoskeletal Imaging: Case Review, now in its 3rd edition, and co-editor of two other highly regarded publications in the field.

Diagnostic radiology refers to the field of medicine that uses non-invasive imaging scans to diagnose a patient. The tests and equipment used sometimes involve low doses of radiation to create highly detailed images of an area. A diagnostic radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating disease and injury, using medical imaging techniques such as x-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET), fusion imaging, and ultrasound.

Named Best Doctor in America since 2013, Dr. Yu has received numerous teaching awards, has published over 300 papers, chapters, and abstracts, as well as has given over 170 lectures at national and international conferences, including 21 visiting professorships.
