Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Joshua Hay, who serves patients in  Texas.

A practiced physiatrist, Dr. Hay works at Spine Works Institute in North Richland Hills, Texas. He has extensive training in a multidisciplinary approach to pain management and musculoskeletal care.  

Spine Works Institute operates from a state-of-the-art 10,500 square foot spine center that is dedicated solely to the treatment and care of both neck and spinal problems. It is the first and only Spine Center of Excellence™ in all of Texas. Under one single roof, the team of medical professionals care for patients with neck and back pain using a multitude of integrated spine care that includes conservative physical therapy, injection therapy, advanced pain management, as well as surgical intervention, if necessary. 

Raised in the Fort Worth area, Dr. Hay received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University, graduating magna cum laude in 2001. He then attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he received his medical degree in 2006. 

Next for Dr. Hay was training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, completing his medical residency in 2010. During this time, he served as chief resident of the physical medicine and rehabilitation department, elected by peers and faculty from 2009 to 2010. He remained in San Antonio and completed a fellowship in pain management in 2011.

With this training, Dr. Hay is an expert in a multimodal approach to pain management, including injection procedures and medication management allowing for individualized treatment options.

Alleviating pain and getting patients back to their life, he is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and pain medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R).

Continuously advancing his efforts, Dr. Hay is an active member of the American Pain Society, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the International Spine Intervention Society.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.
