With a long standing national reputation and board-certified for over 20 years, Dr. Korman is a consistently top-ranked and highly regarded plastic surgeon. He is the Founder of Korman Plastic Surgery, seeing patients at his offices in San Jose, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and Mountain View, California.

Having taught at Stanford University School of Medicine for nearly three decades, he is a Clinical Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. As such, he leads programs and courses sponsored by national plastic surgery organizations. He also teaches Stanford plastic surgery residents and plastic surgeons around the world.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation, and Zedplast (Stanford Plastic Surgery Alumni Association—Vice President).

Receiving his bachelor’s degree (with distinction in all subjects) from Cornell University, Dr. Korman went on to attend medical school at the same institution. He graduated at the top of his class (Alpha Omega Alpha), after which he pursued his residency at Stanford University Medical Center. This was followed by fellowships in the Plastic Surgery Unit at Canniesburn Hospital, and a fellowship in cosmetic surgery in Miami, Florida.

Honing his skills, the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.

In addition to recognition by his peers and patients as an outstanding clinician, Dr. Korman is an accomplished writer, having authored and co-authored many scientific and general interest articles in publications ranging from Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to The New York Times. He is also an accomplished musician and sculptor, has traveled to many countries to help the underserved, and holds many patents for innovations in plastic surgery in the areas of skin remodeling and tissue expansion. 

With a desire to give back to the community, Dr. Korman began the Clean Slate program in San Jose, California that gives former gang members the opportunity to rebuild their lives by removing tattoos that represent their past. He also volunteers to educate breast cancer patients on their options for breast reconstruction, as well as has extensive experience working as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon in developing countries.

A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done.
