In practice since 1999, Dr. Clarke is a well-versed hospitalist who works to treat patients staying in the hospital due to a variety of illnesses and injuries. In collaboration with the Emory Healthcare network, she is affiliated with Emory University Hospital, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and Emory University Hospital Midtown.
Among her academic appointments, she is a Senior Physician and an Assistant Professor within the Department of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine.
The Division of Hospital Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine is the largest academic hospital medicine program in the nation. The physicians and advanced practice providers care for hospitalized patients at eleven hospitals in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area.
At the start of her academic career, Dr. Clarke graduated with her medical degree from New York Medical College in 1996. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio in 1997 and 1999, respectively.
Passionate about her profession, she is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. Hospitalists are physicians whose primary professional focus is caring for patients only while they are hospitalized.
