Dr. Karen Kormis, a respected gastroenterologist and a proud native of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, is celebrating over 25 years of exceptional service in the field of digestive health. As the senior physician partner at Pennsylvania Gastroenterology Consultants, she has dedicated her career to diagnosing and treating a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders, with a particular focus on irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel diseases. She remains committed to her patients and community, having provided care to Pennsylvania GI patients since 1996.
Dr. Kormis earned her medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia where she graduated first in her class. She then completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency followed by her Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Connecticut Hospital and its affiliates including Hartford Hospital and St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Her extensive training and experience allow her to provide personalized care tailored to meet the unique needs of her patients.
In addition to treating chronic digestive disorders, Dr. Kormis is certified in the HET System, a pioneering non-surgical device that offers an innovative solution for patients suffering from internal hemorrhoids. “My goal is to improve the quality of life for my patients by equipping them with the tools and knowledge to manage their conditions effectively,” she shared.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Kormis enjoys spending quality time with her husband, a fellow physician, and their daughter. In her leisure time, she finds joy in fishing, scuba diving, and scrapbooking, reflecting her passion for adventure and creativity.
