Dr. Stavile is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. Dr. Stavile earned her Medical Degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1990. She then completed her internship and residency in Emergency Medicine at Jacobi Hospital Center.  

Emergency Medicine is the medical specialty that concentrates on the critical and time-sensitive medical conditions, injuries, and emergencies that people encounter. It encompasses the diagnosis and management of such medical crises. 

For nearly three decades Dr. Stavile has served at Kings County Hospital Center in administrative, academic, and clinical capacities. Kings County Hospital Center is a municipal hospital located in Brooklyn, New York. Kings County Hospital is categorized as a Level 1 Trauma Center, and is recognized for “highest-quality care” by the U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Hospitals” catalog. Kings County has treated patients with rare life-threatening diseases ranging from Malaria, Monkeypox, and the more prominent COVID-19. It is one of the largest Emergency Departments in the United States and treats over 140,000 patients each year. 

Dr. Stavile’s expertise at Kings County Hospital extends beyond the confines of traditional patient care. For over 20 years she served as the Associate Medical Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine, and currently she is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate Brooklyn Health Sciences Center. She has held pivotal roles such as the Medical Director of the Sexual Assault Forensic Program. This program encompasses the Emergency Department’s services dedicated to the examination and compassionate care of individuals affected by sexual assault.

Dr. Stavile has attended numerous conferences and delivered lectures to Emergency Medicine residents as well as medical students. Her lectures have covered a wide range of topics within Emergency Medicine including stroke management, challenging airway scenarios, moderate sedation, cultural competence, toxicology, metabolic disorders, orthopedic injuries, ultrasound techniques, leadership in healthcare, and high-risk emergency medicine situations. Additionally, Dr. Stavile conducted workshops in Chicago aimed at preparing Emergency Medicine residents for their oral board examinations. 

In early 2020 Kings County Hospital released an e-Booklet on the COVID pandemic that featured Dr.Stavile as a resilient physician. It recognized her work on the front lines while also fighting for her own life after contracting the disease. Beyond her commitments at work during the COVID pandemic, she continued working remotely via tele-medicine visits with patients to further help individuals who could not reach the hospital setting to receive health care.

Recently, Dr. Stavile has begun a pursuit of her interest in Functional Medicine. Dr.Stavile has attended conferences in peptide & stem cell research, longevity and anti-aging and is working towards board certification in Functional Medicine. At present, she is a CLIA Licensed Medical Lab Director.

Beyond her professional career, Dr. Stavile holds her family at the center of her life. Her interests include gardening, hiking, tennis and skiing. 

Dr. Stavile feels that she has been fortunate to practice emergency medicine in various capacities as a clinician, administrator and educator simultaneously. This unique experience places her in a distinctive position to teach and mentor medical students and residents in various aspects of medical practice. Such education and training is critical in our ever changing and dynamic medical world

It has also been Dr. Stavile’s goal to engage in her own ongoing, self-directed learning in evidence-based medicine, research, and advanced educational methods such as case-based teaching and simulator-based teaching. As an administrator, she is well equipped with the knowledge of dynamic challenges impacting the healthcare system and works tirelessly to improve the care that she provides to her  patients while creating a nurturing and academic environment for teaching future physicians.
