Get to know Licensed Clinical Psychologist Dr. Karly Warren, who serves patients in the State of South Carolina.

Energetic and ambitious licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Warren, has considerable experience working with individuals across the lifespan, including those with chronic mental illness. She offers comprehensive psychological assessments and psychoeducational assessments to the growing Blythewood and Northeast communities at Palmer Counseling and Consulting in Columbia, South Carolina.

Palmer Counseling and Consulting is a warm and welcoming professional psychotherapy practice grounded in Christian principles and evidence-based interventions. The experienced and professional multidisciplinary practice specializes in services for individuals and couples, as well as marriage and family therapy. The team of professionals working there also provide age and developmentally appropriate individual and family therapy for children and adolescents. Alongside counseling services, they offer clinical consulting, psychological testing, and life coaching services.

Professionally, Dr. Warren uses a variety of tests and diagnostic methods to capture each individual’s profile of strengths and weaknesses. She assesses the person’s level of functioning, including attention, memory, learning skills, language skills, nonverbal reasoning, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities. She investigates whether the person is experiencing any emotional distress that is severe enough to meet criteria for a formal psychological diagnosis, such as a depressive or anxiety disorder, and to get a sense of his or her coping skills. The outcome of the assessment is to guide treatment or other supports needed to maximize a person’s ability to function at their best in their environment.

“My goal is to is to evaluate the presenting problems from the ground up, in context, to determine the origin of the problem and then to make recommendations that will be useful in managing or solving the problem. I will commit that you will receive a respectful, in-depth look at the issue, or significant narrowing down of the potential causes and having a clear sense of what to do next.” as stated by Dr. Warren.

Among her various professional roles, she sees patients at The Stone House – Blythewood Counseling Center, offering psychometric testing of children and adults. She is also a Supervising Psychologist and Assistant Chief of Mental Health at the Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, a Consulting Psychologist at the Center for Research, Assessment, and Treatment Efficacy in Asheville, as well as on staff at The Price Group with locations in Columbia and Asheville.

Attributing her success to her passion for helping others and making them feel comfortable about opening up, she has conducted comprehensive psychological evaluations with children, adolescents, and adults in inpatient settings, private practice, and at the VA hospital. She also has extensive training in the evaluation of children suspected of having autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and/or other neurodevelopmental disorders.
