A native of Brownsville, Texas, Dr. Diase’s early interests in humankind and science led her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Anthropology and Biology from the University of Notre Dame. She then went on to obtain her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1997, where she also met her husband, Dr. Mark Vital.
Her specialty training degree in obstetrics and gynecology is from the University of Texas Houston Hermann Hospital Program, where she also served as Administrative Chief Resident. Other notable awards include Chief Resident of the Year Award and Excellence in Laparoscopy Award.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG) and a member of the Harris County Medical Society, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). Outside of the office, her hobbies are reading, rollerblading, and growing orchids. She is the proud mother of her son, Coleman, and her daughter, Kennedy. She enjoys spending every spare moment with her family, including her dogs.
