Dr. Sowers is a board-certified physical therapist who is currently serving patients at her private practice in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey. She is also an Assistant Professor of Health Science at Stockton University in Galloway Township, New Jersey.

Dr. Sowers earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts and sciences from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 2002. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 2008, followed by her Doctor of Philosophy degree in physical therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 2018. 

Dr. Sowers is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialities (ABPTS). Dr. Sowers holds certification as a neurologic clinical specialist (NCS). A NCS is a licensed physical therapist who has completed over 2000 hours of neurologic clinical practice while working with individuals who have neurologic dysfunction, but have demonstrated competency in patient care (examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention), patient education, interpretation of research, administration, and consultation. They also must have passed the Neurologic Clinical Specialist Examination and obtained certification in neurologic physical therapy by the ABPTS.

Dr. Sowers has been named to the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) Classification Working Group. The FEI, founded in 1921, is the world governing body for Jumping, Dressage and Para Dressage, Eventing, Driving and Para Driving, Endurance, as well as Vaulting and Reining. Dr. Sowers is an FEI Level 2 Classifier for para-equestrian sport and a USEF National Classifier.

Physical therapy is a growing part of the medical industry. Physical therapists, like Dr. Sowers, are key to recovery for some patients who are recuperating from injuries, illnesses, and surgery. They work with patients to help them regain movement and manage pain, either in a hospital or clinical setting. Dr. Sowers’ research focuses on stress, fatigue, quality of life for individuals diagnosed with primary immunodeficiency, and on balance and movement assessment of para-equestrian athletes.
