As a thriving, fellowship-trained pulmonologist, Dr. Hardin’s primary clinical area of interest is in pulmonary medicine. She is in practice with UC Davis Health Midtown Clinic, Sacramento in California.

At UC Davis Health System, she serves in various other roles, including: Director of the Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program; Professor within the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine; Director of the Veterans’ Affairs, Mather Sleep Program; and Director of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. She is also the Director of the UC Davis Health System Veterans Administration Hospital Sleep Lab. Her research includes sleep deprivation in the ICU patient and the development of new bedside neurophysiologic monitoring techniques in patients receiving neuromuscular blocking agents.

At the start of her journey into medicine, Dr. Hardin graduated with her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her internship, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine at the University of California, Davis Medical Center.

Subsequent to her education, she attained board certification in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In 2003, Dr. Hardin attained board-certification in sleep medicine through the American Board of Sleep Medicine, which is a nonprofit organization that certifies physicians, PhDs, specialists, and technologists in the specialty of sleep medicine.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FACCP) and a Fellow of the American Academy Sleep Medicine (FAASM), she is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Thoracic Society.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.

Among her most notable achievements, Dr. Hardin has been the recipient of Princeton Recognition Award for Professional Women (2010); Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award, UC Davis Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellows (2010); America’s Best Women’s Physician (2009); America’s Top Physician Award (2009); and America’s Top Physician Award From Consumers’ Research Council (2007).

Outside of practicing medicine, she enjoys skiing, landscaping, and wedding planning.
