In 2005, he was recruited to Brain2Spine Institute as a specialist in epilepsy surgery. He also  serves as the Chief Surgeon of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, which is one of only two level IV epilepsy centers on the West coast of Florida and the sole center in Pinellas county.

He is also the only neurosurgeon in Pinellas County with specialized training to perform cyberknife radiosurgery, a useful alternative to traditional open-brain surgery.

His educational journey began at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he excelled in his studies and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with high honors in chemistry. Additionally, he pursued a double major in cellular molecular biology.

In his pursuit of further knowledge, Dr. Jobe attended medical school and completed a surgical internship at Wayne State University School of Medicine.

For his specialized training in neurosurgery, he underwent a neurosurgical residency, which included an enfolded fellowship in functional neurosurgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. During this time, he had the privilege of being mentored by renowned figures in the field. One of his mentors, Dr. Leonard J. Cerullo, was acclaimed for his definitive work titled “Application of Lasers In Neurosurgery.” Other influential figures in his training included Dr. Richard G. Fessler, a pioneer in proving the effectiveness and safety of minimally invasive spinal surgery, which later gained popularity in the 2000s; and Dr. Richard W. Byrne, MD, now Chairman of Rush Neurosurgery, a training program that is ranked number 4 in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.

Throughout his training, Dr. Jobe demonstrated excellence, earning the neurosurgery resident teaching award twice. In 2005, his expertise in epilepsy surgery led to his recruitment to St. Petersburg.

Dedicated to staying at the forefront of medical advancements, Dr. Jobe is board-certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

They treat strokes, tumors, certain types of birth defects, infections, and head or spinal cord injuries.

Apart from his clinical work, Dr. Jobe has contributed significantly to the academic community. He has authored numerous scholarly articles covering various topics, including epilepsy, deep brain stimulation, spinal surgery, microsurgery, and cerebral aneurysms. He has also contributed two book chapters to the Atlas of Neurosurgical Techniques, Spine, and Peripheral Nerve, edited by Richard G. Fessler and Laligam N. Sekhar, which received the Association of American Publishers Best Book in Clinical Medicine Award in 2006.

His exceptional skills and commitment to patient care have consistently earned him high ratings as one of the top neurosurgeons in the Tampa Bay area. Furthermore, his contributions have been recognized internationally, including being featured in the British Medical Association’s Highly Commended in Surgery in 2007.
