Krista Fitzgerald, Au.D, CCC-A, F-AAA, CNIM, an Audiologist with Atlantic Ear, Nose & Throat
Get to know Audiologist Dr. Krista Fitzgerald, who serves patients throughout the State of Florida.
A knowledgeable audiologist, Dr. Fitzgerald tends to patients at Atlantic Ear, Nose & Throat, a comprehensive, full-service otolaryngology practice with offices in both Seminole and Volusia counties. Her clinical interests include hearing, balance, electrophysiology, neurophysiology, and intraoperative neuromonitoring.
In regards to her educational background, she received her Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Connecticut in 2013. Her graduate clinic rotations and research focused heavily on auditory evoked potentials, vestibular testing, peripheral and central hearing pathology, and central auditory processing disorder testing and evaluations.
After graduation, Dr. Fitzgerald accepted a job offer as a surgical neurophysiologist, primarily working with otolaryngologists, neuro-otologists and neurosurgeons. During her employment she obtained her audiology license and Certificate in Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (CNIM). She also received her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (F-AAA).
Prior to joining Atlantic Ear, Nose & Throat, she was the Director of Clinical Education for the Au.D. Program and an Assistant Clinical Professor for the University of Florida from July 2019 through August 2022. She continues to fulfill her teaching role as adjunct faculty for the University of Florida and A.T. Still University’s Post-Professional Doctor of Audiology Program/ She enjoys sharing her knowledge in the topics of electrophysiology and medical audiology and strives to provide clinical correlates in all of her teaching experiences. She is a supporter of outreach activities and assists in organizing and leading the students in this endeavor.
Audiology is a branch of science that studies hearing, balance, and related disorders. Audiologists treat those with hearing loss and proactively prevent related damage. By employing various testing strategies, they aim to determine whether someone has normal sensitivity to sounds. As an audiologist, Dr. Fitzgerald takes part in services such as prescribing and fitting hearing aids, recommending assistive listening devices, and providing aural rehabilitation.
