Empowering New Nurses Through Innovative Training and Comprehensive Education LaGidgette Robinson: A Top Nurse Leading the Way in Professional Development
LaGidgette C. Robinson, MSN, RN, MEDSURG-BC, NPD-BC, has made a name for herself due to her drive for excellence. Since beginning her career in 2004, she has become a transformative force in healthcare, currently serving in the Nursing Professional Development Department at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple, Texas.
With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grambling State University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University, LaGidgette’s academic foundation is as impressive as her career accomplishments. Board-certified in both medical-surgical nursing and nursing professional development, she is a lifelong learner and a passionate advocate for evidence-based practice and leadership growth.
In her role, LaGidgette is instrumental in training new hires—both nurses and patient care technicians—to ensure they deliver safe, compassionate, and skilled care. She develops and facilitates classes in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), mentors preceptors, and collaborates with Central Texas College to teach patient care technician courses. She is not only shaping the future workforce but also inspiring it through her hands-on leadership.
Her scholarly contributions are equally commendable. LaGidgette led an IRB-approved research initiative titled Empowering Confidence Through Simulation: De-Escalation Training for PCTs which examined the effectiveness of simulation training in preparing staff for aggressive patient interactions. This study has been developed into a manuscript, and she has presented her findings at international conferences.
Beyond her research, LaGidgette actively builds career pipelines by partnering with local independent school districts for Healthcare Career Days and launching initiatives to introduce underprivileged elementary students to diverse healthcare careers through engaging health promotion activities. Her efforts don’t stop at curriculum development; she’s known for walking hospital units to connect with staff and has even helped streamline workflows for transplant units, hospice, and dialysis education.
LaGidgette’s achievements are supported by a strong network and a deep sense of gratitude to her parents, who instilled in her the confidence to pursue nursing from a young age. A proud member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Nurses Association, Texas Nurses Association, and the Association for Nursing Professional Development, she represents the highest standards in the profession.
Whether she’s mentoring a new nurse, leading a simulation lab, or shaping curriculum for future caregivers, LaGidgette Robinson embodies what it means to be a top nurse—compassionate, committed, and continually striving for excellence in everything she does.
