Get to know Urologist Dr. Laith Alzweri, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

An exceptional urologist, Dr. Alzweri is the Director of Men’s Health and Male Reconstruction and Assistant Professor of Urology within the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch. His clinical interests include male sexual dysfunctions, male urine incontinence, prosthetic urology surgery, male hypogonadism, urethral stricture disease and male genitourinary reconstructive surgery, Peyronie’s Disease, male infertility, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and robotic surgery.

Born and raised in Jordan, Dr. Alzweri received his medical degree from the Jordan University of Science and Technology School of Medicine in 2006, before relocating to the United Kingdom, where he completed his internship at James Cook University Hospital, followed by a residency in general surgery at Wales Deanery Hospitals, and a residency in urology at West Midlands Deanery Hospitals.

Following residency, he relocated to the United States and completed three consecutive fellowships: a sexual medicine and reconstructive genitourinary surgery fellowship at the Brady Urological Institute; an andrology and prosthetic urology fellowship at the Tulane University Medical Centre; and a endourology and robotics fellowship at the same educational venue.

Recognized as a Fellow of the European College of Sexual Medicine (FECSM), Dr Alzweri has authored several publications in the fields of sexual medicine and andrology. He is also an active member of the American Urological Association, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Society of Sexual Medicine North America, and the International Society of Sexual Medicine.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
