Throughout his academic career, Dr. Greenberg earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California in 1985. He completed post-graduate studies in Chemistry and Biochemistry at Michigan State University. From there, he went on to complete his internship in internal medicine at the Michigan Osteopathic Medical Center in 1986, followed by his residency in internal medicine at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in 1988. Wanting to further his training, he completed his fellowship in nephrology at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor in 1990.

The doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, which is an organization that provides board certification to qualified DOs who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults. What’s more, he is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association, the American Society of Nephrology, the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Transplant Physicians, and the Michigan Osteopathic Medical Association.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care when the time comes. 

Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Greenberg has been the recipient of several awards and honors, including the On-Time Doctor Award in 2017 and 2018, the Patients’ Choice Award in 2015, 2017, and 2018, and Compassionate Doctor Recognition in 2017 and 2018.
