Leading Orthopedist, Richard E. Grant, MD is to be Recognized as a 2018 Top Doctor in Pennsylvania – Top Doctor Awards
Richard E. Grant, MD, Orthopedist with Department of Orthopaedics at Einstein Medical Center, and affiliated with Einstein Medical Center Of Philadelphia, has been named a 2018 Top Doctor in Pennsylvania. Dr. Richard E. Grant is a highly respected and experienced physician, having been in practice for over four decades. His career in medicine began in 1976 when he graduated with his Medical Degree from the Howard University College of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Grant completed his internship with the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, followed by his residency in orthopedic surgery at Wilford Hall Medical Center. Driven to further his expertise and knowledge, he undertook his fellowship at the Ohio State University Hospital.
Dr. Grant has dedicated his life to not only delivering compassionate care but to empowering minority students in residency programs as well. A pioneer in promoting diversity, from 1988 until 2001, he educated more than 60 minority and female residents as Chairman and associate professor at Howard University. In particular, Dr. Grant has been recognized for changing the perception that women could not become orthopedic surgeons by accepting more women into the Howard residency program. Thereafter,the residency program’s American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery passage rate increased immediately.
Dr. Grant was the first African-American president of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and he specializes in total joint arthroplasty, and sickle cell disease-related osteonecrosis. His meticulous approach to patient care, coupled with his dedication to his work, and contributions in his field makes Dr. Richard E. Grant, MD a very worthy winner of a 2018 Top Doctor Award.
