Licensed Practical Nurse, Donna Inman LPN, who Provides Care for the Chicago Area
Get to know Licensed Practical Nurse, who serves patients within Sitka Community Hospital.
Although she is currently retired, Donna has provided care in many states throughout the country over her fifty-three year career. She earned her degree in public nursing from the Peoria School of Practical Nursing in 1964 and then began her career as a travel nurse, becoming licensed in nine states. Donna specialized in dementia care, long-term care, and acute care.
When Donna moved to Southeast Alaska as a travel nurse, she found she loved the region and continued accepting positions to work in the Sitka Community Hospital. She cared for long-term patients throughout her time at the hospital and took time to get to know and understand each of them. In addition to her work at the hospital, Donna worked as a preceptor in the long-term care unit and taught future generations of nurses about providing care for patients.
In the past, she has also worked as a nurse at a Garment Manufacturing Plant where she was responsible for pre-employment physicals, injuries and safety program/OSHA reports; worked in private duty, ICU and burn units; and became a camp nurse at a dinosaur dig site. Her career has been expansive and varied throughout the many years of service she has given to the profession.
Licensed practical nurses examine patients, observe crucial symptoms, and assist in wound care. LPNs work in home health care, hospitals, clinics and nursing homes. Most LPNs work in physicians’ offices, home health care facilities, nursing care facilities, medical and surgical hospitals and community care facilities. They can also choose to work in psychiatric hospitals, correctional facilities, outpatient clinics, dialysis centers and blood banks.
Donna attributes her successful career to her ability to overcome challenges. She enjoys caring for patients and ensures that they are given a superior level of care. When she is not assisting patients, she enjoys science fiction, being with her family, and adventuring through the outdoors.
