Get to know Internist Dr. Lillian Esther Cohn, who serves patients in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Cohn is a female primary care physician with over 40 years of experience in internal medicine. She is one of the  founding partners of NSIM (Ninth Street Internal Medicine) at Locust in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and now has a concierge practice with MDVIP within the  NSIM office space. She is  on  the medical staff  of  both Pennsylvania Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Her goal as an internist is to partner with her patients so they can become better advocates for their healthcare needs and participate more in the medical decisions that can help them live healthier and happier lives. She manages both acute and chronic diseases and assists with end-of-life decisions.

“Because of my smaller practice size, I have time to closely listen to my patients and provide proactive medical recommendations and emotional support. My MDVIP-affiliated practice also offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in traditional internal medicine practices. My greatest asset is my ability to advocate for my patients’ needs, and I am available for all of their questions and concerns. As a private doctor, I coordinate care through our complex healthcare system, and in so doing, I am able to help improve the overall wellness of my patients and limit unnecessary services. I have an honest and direct approach to communication and am sensitive to the different needs and goals of individuals” expressed Dr. Cohn.

Continuing to teach residents and students as part of her commitment to educating the next generation of primary care physicians, she is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1978. She then went on to perform her internship and residency in internal medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital in 1979 and 1981, respectively.

Recognized by Best Doctors in America 2005 – 2012, 2015 – 2019, Dr. Cohn is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
