Dr. Jacobs has excelled all through her life. Because of her academic achievements she was able to skip 3 grades in school and graduate with her doctorate degree in medicine at 22 years of age. She completed her undergraduate degree from The Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education with a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Science with honors. She then went on to Albany Medical College where she graduated with her Medical Degree in 2009. After obtaining her medical degree she completed her Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. During her time there she completed a spine research fellowship and published over 15 peer reviewed scientific papers. Wanting to further her training she then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics and Spinal Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia/University of Pennsylvania.
To stay up to date in her field, Dr. Jacobs remains a professional member of the North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, International Society of Study of the Lumbar Spine, American Orthopaedic Association, Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society, and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America. She has been a recipient of multiple “Top Doctor” awards over the past few years. Her scientific work has been recognized by various organizations. To name a few, she received the Best Basic Science Paper Presentation Award from the UPMC Annual Research Day in 2015, she was a Featured Expert in Biopharm Communications “ClinTopics” Medical Education Program in 2014, she was awarded the “Dr. Wonderful Award” for Unparallelled Professionalism, Courtesy, Kindness, & Expertise in 2014, awarded the American Orthopaedic Association Emerging Leader & Resident Leader Awards in 2013, a recipient of the Outstanding Paper Award from the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine in 2012, and awarded the Rudin Research Award for scientific work on role of NO-releasing ASA on colorectal CA cells in 2006.
Dr. Jacobs currently practices as the chief of Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery at Next Gen Orthopaedics. She has been practicing for over 10 years and is affiliated with facilities in New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, including Saint Barnabas Medical Center and Holy Name Medical Center where she holds an expertise in Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery, Arthroscopic Shoulder and Knee Surgery, Laser Spine Surgery, and Regenerative Spine and Joint Injections.
