Dr. Gerber completed his undergraduate from the University of Illinois where he graduated with distinction in Physiology of Exercise in 1970, and Masters in 1971. He then attended the Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine where he graduated in 1974 with his Medical Degree. He has over four decades of experience in his field.
After his Medical Degree, Dr. Gerber was a research fellow in the Department of Pathology at Loyola Stritch where he co-authored several papers regarding the blood and vascular reactions to inflammation. Then he went on to his internship and residency in Internal Medicine from the University of South Florida. He chose specialty training in Cardiology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Disease. He has subspecialty boards in Nuclear Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. He has training in Age Management Medicine and Bariatric Medicine. His education in BioIndividual Nutrition includes: Nutrigenomics, Gut and Psychology Syndromes diet (GAPS diet), Low Carbohydrate Diets (ketogenic diets), and Membrane Medicine. Dr. Gerber has training and certificates in BioIdentical Hormones, Ozone Therapy, and IV nutrition. He is a member of ILADS and is one of few Lyme literate cardiologists. Dr. Gerber currently practices within his private practice Bio-Individual Health Strategies, LLC.
Holistic Cardiology is the combination of the principles and practice of proactive preventive aging medicine with cardiology and individualized medicine he provides his patients, and their families with the prescription and action plan for health renewal on the path to optimal health. Dr. Gerber transformed his cardiology practice into a personalized holistic health center because of his own life experience with complex illness, and it became clear to him that a healthy heart was just a small part of what is necessary to experience optimal health. Dr. Gerber believes that preventing disease is better, and easier than curing complex disease and his patients agree. Restoring health is an interactive collaboration between patient, family, and physician. Good health is required to live life to one’s fullest and each patient requires personalized solutions to achieve their own optimal health.
