A 1992 graduate of Escuela Colombiana de Medicina, Dr. Arenas relocated to the United States to further her training. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in 2006, followed by her residency in physical medicine & rehabilitation at the University of Miami School of Medicine in 2009.

One year later, in 2010, she earned board certification through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, whose mission is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. 

With an unwavering commitment to her specialty, the doctor is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. It is the national medical specialty society for physicians who specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry and physiatrics, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.
