Raleigh, North Carolina – Lucy’s educational journey reflects her unwavering commitment to clinical excellence and healthcare leadership. She embarked on her advanced studies at Aspen University, where she pursued a Doctor of Nursing Practice from January 2020 to June 2023. Her expertise in business and management is credited to her earning a Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Administration from the City University of Seattle between July 2001 and July 2003. This unique combination of clinical and administrative education has equipped her with the critical skills necessary to provide exceptional patient care while excelling in healthcare leadership.
Throughout her career of over 4 decades, Lucy has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to patient care and clinical excellence locally and internationally. Since August 2007, she has advanced to a Clinical Nurse IV at WakeMed Health Hospitals, consistently delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. Her expertise in patient assessment, critical thinking, excellence in patient care, and compassionate caring have played a vital role in improving healthcare outcomes and patient satisfaction through the emphasis on intentional caring. Lucy was nominated twice for the Daisy Award during her time at WakeMed Health Hospital.
Currently, Lucy serves as an Imaging Nurse at UNC Health, a position she has held since April 2017. In this critical role, she ensures patient safety and quality care during imaging and diagnostic procedures, showcasing her commitment to maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice. Since earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2023, Lucy has been a distinguished podium speaker at several conferences, where she presented her DNP Project, “Can Evaluating and Treating Preprocedure Anxiety in Radiology Improve Patient Satisfaction?” : Duke University Annual Radiologists Technology Week in September 2023, the Annual Nursing Research Conference at UNC in October 2023, and the National Conference for the Academy for Ambulatory Care Nurses in April 2024. That DNP project was also accepted for a poster presentation at the Annual ANCC Magnet Conference in October 2024.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Lucy is a passionate advocate for global health. She has dedicated nearly three decades to this cause as the Founding President of The Golden Light Organization, a nonprofit she established in April 1997. The organization focuses on promoting international cultural exchange in health, education, arts, and technology. Through this initiative, Lucy has worked tirelessly to support families in urban poverty by providing essential food items, distributing feminine hygiene products to women and girls, raising awareness about the prevention and management of communicable and chronic diseases, supporting nursing schools with medical textbooks, various equipment for nurses, and capacity building for nursing school faculty in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Lucy attributes her success to her profound passion for her work and caring. Her dedication to continuous growth drives her to seek improvement through ongoing education and training. At the heart of her efforts lies a commitment to patient care, which she finds immensely fulfilling.
