It is my pleasure and goal to serve and assist each patient to attain health, wellness, and a maximum acceptable level of quality of life.
Prior to her current endeavours, Luminita worked at psychiatric behavioral health outpatient and inpatient facilities, providing ECT specialized therapy. Believing that therapeutic communication is essential to developing rapport between practitioner and patient, she strives to make a difference in her patients’ lives through warm and genuine communication. She understands that her patients want to be heard, seen, and cared for as individuals. For this reason, she strives to be a source of inspiration, a light of hope, as well as an educational source to all that she meets throughout her day.
When asked why she chose a career in nursing, Luminita answered that she wanted to be the change and a role model of hope, health, and wellness in her community. Now, with years of experience in her field, she attributes her success to God, prayer, and working with Dr. Nikan Khatibi, who is an excellent physician, mentor, and preceptor to students. She has always worked in the hospital setting, so she started out in organizing medical records, followed by an administrative position, and then as medical record coder and biller. When she saw how the nurses interacted with patients, she realized that she did not want to spend her career behind a desk. She wanted to help people hands-on, be the change and inspiration in her community.
After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Lanao School of Science and Technology in the Philippines in 2010, Luminita relocated to the United States where she went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing Health Education (MSN/EDU) degree from the University of Phoenix in 2013. She also holds a degree in gerontology nursing (AGNP) from South University.
In order to stay up to date in her field, she remains a member of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners, the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Psychiatric Nurse Association.
