Dr. Shikowitz is a board-certified otolaryngologist who sees patients for a variety of surgical issues associated with the ear, nose & throat, as well as the head and neck. He also takes a special interest in pediatric otolaryngology, and treats adults and adolescents alike.

He earned his medical degree from Eastern Central University in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic in 1981. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his internship at Maimonides Medical Center, followed by his residency in otolaryngology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. 

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in otolaryngology, facial cosmetic surgery, and head and neck surgery by the American Board of Otolaryngology (ABO). The ABO is a non-profit corporation that has set the mission of ensuring professional standards with certificates and memberships, and has offered training in the fields of head neck surgery to professionals since 1924.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Shikowitz is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Otolaryngology, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children, the Long Island Society of Otolaryngology of Head and Neck Surgery, the Association for Research in Otolaryngology, the American Broncho-Esophagological Association, and the Laryngological, Rhinological and Otological (Triologic) Society.

Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Otolaryngologists, also known as Ear, Nose & Throat doctors, specialize in disorders of the head and neck ranging from hearing loss to cancer. Dr. Shikowitz’s areas of specialization include endoscopic skull base surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, head and neck surgery, and sinus surgery.
