A prominent radiation oncologist, Dr. Jones is affiliated with GenesisCare Louisville Radiation Oncology. He has a wealth of experience treating smoking related illnesses such as head and neck, lung and esophageal cancers, and was the first physician to utilize stereotactic radiotherapy of lung cancer in the region.

Throughout his academic career, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and Political Science from Berry College, and graduated with his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He then went on to further his training by completing an internship at the Georgia Baptist Medical Center, followed by a residency in radiation oncology at the UMDNJ Cooper Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident.

Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology (FACRO), the doctor is board-certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Jones is an active member of the American Brachytherapy Society, the American College of Radiology, the American Radium Society, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the Jefferson County Medical Society, the Kentucky Medical Society, the Radiological Society of North America, the Southern Association of Oncology, and the Southern Medical Association.

Prior to his current role, he was an attending physician at Capital Radiation Therapy Center, Kennestone Regional Medical Center, and Piedmont Hospital’s Cancer Treatment Center. He also served on the Board of Trustees at Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s HealthCare, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group Brain Site Committee, and was the Medical Staff President at St. Mary’s Elizabeth Hospital.

Radiation oncology is a medical specialty that involves the controlled use of radiation to treat cancer. It is one of the three primary specialties – the other two being surgical and medical oncology – involved in the treatment of cancer. A radiation oncologist is a specialist physician who uses ionizing radiation in the treatment of cancer.

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Jones has been the recipient of the Horizon Award Winner for Innovation at St. Mary’s Elizabeth Hospital.
