Marla M. Klein, MD, a Dermatologist with Klein Dermatology & Associates

Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Marla M. Klein, who serves patients in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

In private practice since 1997, Dr. Klein is the owner & operator of Klein Dermatology & Associates in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Providing medical and cosmetic dermatology services, she offers several aesthetic products and procedures, and is a master of the art of Voluma.

Besides being recognized as an astute eye for finding melanomas early, she enjoys doing cosmetic procedures and is very dedicated to all things dermatology and health related. Careful full skin exams for the purpose of screening and detecting skin cancers early have always been a top priority. Common skin issues like the treatment of acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis, rashes like poison oak, psoriasis, warts, seborrheic keratoses, even skin tags are all very important to her.

At the start of her academic career, Dr. Klein graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree from California State University in 1989. She then went on to earn her medical degree from the University of California Davis School of Medicine in 1993.

Upon graduation, she served her internship in internal medicine at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in 1994. Beyond her internal medicine training, she completed three additional years of intensive training in an accredited residency program focused only upon the skin at Henry Ford Hospital in 1997, including one year as chief resident.

That same year, the doctor attained board certification in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.

In 1998, Dr. Kelin started treating patients with collagen and Botox. She was also mentored and trained in tumescent liposuction that same year by Drs. Robert Matheson and Jeffrey Klein. In 2000, she pursued further training in fat transfers.

Years later, in 2005, she was fortunate enough to be selected for special training with the French expert, Dr. Danny Vleggaar, in Sculptra. This special training provided better perspective into the technique as well as focused on the many “don’t /do’s” that one needs to be aware of when injecting Sculptra.

Since then, Radiesse and Juvederm have been FDA approved for cosmetic use, and Dr. Klein has become a nationally recognized educational faculty member for several dermatology procedure/cosmetic products, including: BOTOX, Sculptra, Radiesse, and Juvederm.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, she is a member of the American Society for Dermatological Surgery, the Oregon Dermatology Society, the American Academy of Dermatology (Fellow), the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (Fellow), the American Medical Association, the Oregon Medical Association, the Medical Society of Metropolitan Portland, and the Dermatology Foundation (Supporter).

Throughout her career, Dr. Klein has made public appearances at AM Northwest (1999- 2007), Women’s Health Fair (2002), and Vaniqa Rx cream television advertisement (2007-2012). She is a supporter of various charities and voluntary organizations, including: Portland Rescue Mission, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, National Kidney Foundation, One World Sight Project, Local Women’s Shelter, Knight Cancer Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and multiple high school sports teams.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, the largest organ of the body; a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, and undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.

Among her numerous accolades, Dr. Klein has been the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2013, 2016), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2013, 2016), Top 10 Doctor – Metro Area (2014), Top 10 Doctor – City (2014), Top 10 Doctor – State (2014), and On-Time Doctor Award (2016).
