Martin C. Mihm Jr. received his medical degree in 1961 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai, followed by his dermatology residency and his pathology fellowship – both at Massachusetts General Hospital. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and Bachelor of Premedical Studies from Duquesne University.
Dr. Mihm Jr. is triple board-certified in dermatology, pathology and dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology. He maintains professional memberships with the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Physicians. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (Ireland), the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. Dr. Mihm Jr. is an established dermatologist who has been practicing for over 50 years and is currently serving patients at Mihm Cutaneous Pathology Consultative Service (MCPCS) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is also affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital. Furthermore, he serves as Director of the Melanoma Program in Dermatology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Associate Director of Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center.
Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, nails, hair and its diseases. As a dermatologist, Dr. Mihm Jr.’s expertise encompasses problematic pigmented lesions, problematic lesions of lymphoma, melanoma, tumors, and other issues relating to inflammatory diseases of the skin. In collaboration with the Vascular Birthmark Foundation, Dr. Mihm Jr. has set up medical clinics in Vietnam, Moscow, India, Italy and Albany. He plans to open additional clinics in Croatia and Paraguay. The Vietnam clinic alone has treated over 5,000 children free of charge, helping them with various vascular anomalies.
In his spare time, Dr. Mihm Jr. enjoys listening to classical music.
