Get to know Orthodontist Dr. Martin Gochnour, who serves patients in Wisconsin.
Dr. Gochnour has proudly served as “Madison Area’s Best Orthodontic Specialist of Choice” for over two decades. He is the Owner of Advanced Orthodontics of Wisconsin, operating out of the offices in Madison, Waunakee, and Dodgeville.
As a functional orthodontist, Dr. Gochnour looks beyond the aesthetic appearance of the teeth, and focuses primarily on the relationship between the teeth, muscles and joints, to ensure a healthy smile with a functionally correct bite.
“There are many fulfilling aspects of practicing orthodontics. What I most appreciate about this practice is the relationships I have developed with my staff, patients and community. This has never really felt like ‘a job’ because I am fueled by the conversation and humor that fills each day. I love coming to work, and I can leave the office each evening knowing that I’ve given my patiences a reason to smile, and they have given me one in return” expressed Dr. Gochnour.
As a young man, he received his undergraduate degree in Aviation Business while serving as a helicopter pilot in the United States Army. After flying commercially as a civilian, Dr. Gochnour transitioned his career towards dentistry.
He attended The University of Houston for further undergraduate education, and was later accepted into UTHealth School of Dentistry, where he is proud to say he graduated top of his class with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
During the Gulf War, Dr. Gochnour served in the United States Air Force while practicing dentistry. Afterward, he was accepted to an advanced orthodontic residency program at The University of Texas Health Science Center.
Later, he attended the Roth-Williams Course for further advanced orthodontic training and specialization in functional bite correction. He has also instructed and been actively involved with the Center for Advanced Education in Orthodontics for many years.
During his extensive career, Dr. Gochnour has had many opportunities to plant and grow orthodontic practices across the United States. That said, Madison has always held a special place in his heart, as he has spent a majority of his career living and practicing in the Madison area.
Learning and introducing the advanced practices and technologies, which accompany partnerships such as Invisalign® Aligners and SureSmile® for braces, has allowed Dr. Gochnour to grow as a person, and as an orthodontic specialist. Staying up to date on the latest advancements in orthodontic techniques and philosophies has always been his top priority.
Among his professional dental affiliations, he is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association.
