A graduate of the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, Dr. Palmeri went on to complete both his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology / oncology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Before long, he became board-certified in medical oncology and hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Palmeri remains a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (on the Government Relations Committee and the Rural Oncology Subcommittee), the American Medical Association, the North Carolina Oncology Association, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the European Society of Medical Oncology. He is also on the Board of Directors of Healing Beyond the Horizon.
