Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Marvin A. Leder, who serves the population of New York.

Dr. Leder is an Endocrinologist with more than five decades of experience in his field, currently practicing with Mount Sinai Medical Group, and is an Assistant Professor with the affiliated Icahn School of Medicine.  His practice focuses on general endocrinology with a special interest in diabetes, thyroid disorders, metabolic bone disease and cardiovascular risk factor reduction.

He proudly served in the military as a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy where he ran the Diabetes Endo Clinic at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital from 1961 to 1962.  On leaving the service he spent six months as Director of the Diabetes Clinic at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.

Encompassing the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and eight hospital campuses in the New York metropolitan area, as well as a large, regional ambulatory footprint, Mount Sinai is internationally acclaimed for its excellence in research, patient care, and education across a range of specialties. The Mount Sinai Health System was created from the combination of the Mount Sinai Medical Center and Continuum Health Partners

Dr. Leder completed his undergraduate degree at NYU where he earned a Bachelor in Arts in 1953.  He then attended SUNY Upstate and graduated with an MD degree in 1957. He interned at Kings County Hospital Center; and did his medical residencies at Manhattan Vets Hospital from 1958 to 1959,  and then at Montefiore Medical Center from 1959 to 1961. He was certified in Internal Medicine in 1964 by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and re-certified in 1974. He passed two endocrine modules, 2013 and 2014, to maintain his certification in Internal Medicine. The ABIM is a physician led, non-profit organization which certifies physicians who maintain high standards of care. He has also completed the Bone Densitometry Exams for osteoporosis as well as an advanced thyroid ultrasound course at Mt. Sinai.

Dr. Leder is a member of the Endocrine Society and The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology. He is a past member of the New York Diabetes Association and the Metropolitan Diabetes Association.

Dr. Leder has received numerous awards including seven Certificates of Recognition for Delivery of Quality Diabetes Care from the National Committee for Quality Assurance of the American Diabetes Association (1993 to present). He is also a recipient of the Theresa Lang Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Physician from New York Hospital Queens,  and has been honored by having a Scholarship named after him by the Staff Society of that hospital.
