Mary H. Broadbent is a registered nurse (RN), who has graduated from Walla Walla Community College with her license. RN’s serve a primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.
Mary has been practicing as a nurse since 1995, giving her over two decades of experience as an ICU nurse. Currently she has taken on the challenge of working in the psychiatric field as a Director of Nursing for Telecare Corporation.
When asked why she chose a career in nursing, Mary said that it was her desire to contribute to the medical community, as well as her desire to help treat others as her way of contributing to the community as a whole. Her recent change to the psychiatric field has brought a new level of experience to her long career.
In her spare time, Mary enjoys crochet projects, doing puzzles, reading and fishing with her sons. She also loves spending time with the people in her life and playing with her grandchildren. Family is a source of support and nourishment for her own mental health.
