Dr. Nauts earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his surgical internship and residency at Rowan University. Dr. Nauts is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, which represents more than 137,000 osteopathic physicians and medical students, promotes public health, and serves as the primary certifying body for DOs. Dr. Nauts is Board certified in General Surgery, is a pioneer and leader in the robotic community travelling throughout the united states to teach other surgeons robotic techniques.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care. Dr. Nauts has mastered treating surgical problems related to Hernias, Gallbladder disease, Colon cancer, and  diverticulitis. These conditions can now be treated entirely through a minimally invasive approach using the Da vinci Robot, meaning smaller incisions, less pain, quicker recovery and return to normal activities.
