Dr. Cheryl Person, MD, MBA, is the National Director of Clinical Quality at Talkiatry, a national practice dedicated to increasing access to high quality, virtual mental health care. She spearheads clinical quality initiatives throughout the company, as well as leads the quality and safety division.
With a strong focus on medication management and a belief in the importance of holistic treatment approaches, Dr. Person brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her position. She will not only provide medication management but also offer motivational interviewing and supportive therapy, emphasizing the value of having a therapist as part of the treatment team.
Dr. Person’s impressive credentials include a Medical Degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, an internship at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, a residency in psychiatry at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and a fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She furthered her education by earning an MBA with a focus on business from the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business at West Texas A&M University.
Having previously served as the Director of Psychiatric Services at a prominent safety-net hospital in Houston, Dr. Person has a wealth of experience working with patients suffering from anxiety and mood disorders. She has also dedicated her career to helping victims of acute trauma and recently co-authored a study on the efficacy of virtual care for patients with anxiety and depression. Her research revealed promising results, showing that after an average of 5 visits over 15 weeks, 67% of patients with anxiety reported no longer experiencing clinically significant symptoms.
