Originally from Bellevue, Washington, Dr. Turley graduated from medical school with honors from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. She then completed general surgery training at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina as well as obtained a Master of Health Science Degree in Clinical Research. Her colon & rectal surgery fellowship training was in Dallas, Texas with Texas Colon & Rectal Specialists at UT Southwestern. 

Board certified in general surgery, Dr. Turley is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Her commitment to excellence in the field of surgery is evident through her memberships in prestigious organizations such as Alpha Omega Alpha, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. 

Colorectal surgery is a field in medicine dealing with disorders of the rectum, anus, and colon. The field is also known as proctology, but this term is now used infrequently within medicine and is most often employed to identify practices relating to the anus and rectum in particular. Colorectal surgeons specialize in the preoperative, operative, and postoperative care of patients with colorectal disorders. They have comprehensive knowledge about general surgery and in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the rectum, anus, and colon. 

Reflecting her dedication to providing the highest quality of care in the field of colon and rectal surgery, Dr. Turley has been recognized for her outstanding teaching skills with the Appleseed Teaching Award at Duke University for the academic years 2015-2016. She also received the Resident Achievement Award for the years 2017-2019.

When not managing colorectal disease, Dr. Turley spends time gardening, hiking, running, and two-stepping with her husband and three children. Additionally, she actively contributes to her local elementary PTA, engaging in her community beyond her medical practice.
