Dr. Ward is a highly trained orthopedic surgeon who has been in practice for over three decades, seeing patients at Chesapeake Bay Orthopedics PC in Seaford, Delaware. 

He treats all upper and lower extremity fractures/trauma; sports injuries: knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow and hand; joint replacement (adult reconstructive surgery); as well as hand and upper extremity soft tissue disorders ( i.e. nerve compression – carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes, etc.). Before relocating to the shore, he had been in solo practice in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.

Academically, Dr. Ward graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Pennsylvania State University in 1985. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1989.

Furthering his training, he performed his internship at Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center in 1989-1990. He then completed his residency at the Kennedy Memorial Hospital System in Stratford, New Jersey, where he received specialty training in general fracture care, hand surgery, sports medicine, adult reconstructive surgery, as well as foot and ankle surgery.

Trained in Level I trauma care for orthopedic patients and robotic-arm assisted surgery, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). The AOBOS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. 

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Ward is an active member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Maryland Association of Osteopathic Physicians.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

Dr. Ward was recognized as a Top Doctor for 2009 and 2011 by What’s Up? Eastern Shore magazine, and as a Top Doctor for 2018 by Delaware Today.

Outside of practicing medicine, his hobbies include construction and rugby.
