Dr. Wilsey is a dual board certified pediatric gastroenterologist in practice with Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition of Florida, P.A. He operates out of the office in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Among his other appointments, Dr. Wilsey is Vice Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Furthermore, he plays a vital role as a core faculty member of Johns Hopkins All Children’s Pediatric Residency Training Program and serves as a faculty and research mentor for pediatric resident physicians.
Scholastically, Dr. Wilsey completed his undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida in 1992, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. He then pursued his medical education at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, receiving his Doctor of Medicine Degree in June 1996.
Following medical school, Dr. Wilsey completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals in Houston, Texas, under the leadership of Ralph D. Feigin, M.D., from 1996 to 1999. Subsequently, he undertook fellowship training in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine Department of Pediatrics and Texas Children’s Hospital, led by William J. Klish, MD, serving from 1999 to 2002.
Board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology, Dr. Wilsey is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics.
Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Wilsey is an esteemed member of the Hillsborough County Pediatric Society, the Hillsborough County Medical Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In addition, he is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition.
Previously, Dr. Wilsey was the President of the Hillsborough County Pediatric Society and served as the Florida Region V Representative for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He has also served as an Associate Residency Director for the USF pediatric residency training program.
Dr. Wilsey has contributed significantly to his field, with over 80 scientific publications. He is a reviewer for several medical journals and has been nominated numerous times for awards in teaching excellence.
Pediatric gastroenterology developed as a subspecialty of pediatrics and gastroenterology. It is concerned with treating the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and pancreas of children from infancy until age eighteen.
