Following the completion of her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1988, Dr. Dodman went on to perform her residency at Michigan Capitol Medical Center in Lansing Michigan, and her fellowship in gastroenterology at Botsford General Hospital. She then earned her Master of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Management at Oakland University in 2001. In addition, she has two teaching fellowships from Michigan State University, a fellowship in Patient Safety, and one in Health Policy.
A Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists (FACOI), she is board-certified in gastroenterology by American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). The AOBIM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults.
With a diverse background, Dr. Dodman started her professional journey in the army, where she served as a combat medic. She was the first female to complete the GI fellowship in her program. She had the privilege of studying liver disease in London at the Royal Free Hospital, under the tutelage of Professor Dame Sheila Sherlock.
She has designed educational programs for medical students, and has served as program director for a large internal medicine residency program. She values education and loves to teach and learn. She has worked extensively creating and implementing quality/performance initiatives, which have all been patient-safety centered.
