Miranda is a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner who is currently serving patients at Excelsior Wellness Center in Spokane, Washington. For over 30 years, Excelsior Wellness Center has become one of the leading community-based nonprofit organizations, dedicated to helping youth and families achieve wellness by living improved lives. Miranda precepts nurse practitioner students and medical students. She taught at Washington State University from 2012 until 2014, where she was recognized as “Teaching Assistant of the Year” in 2013. Miranda is a member of the Neuroscience Education Institute. 

Miranda attributes her success to her mom, who taught her how to be a genuine caretaker, as well as to having always wanted to help people. It was very important to her to work with children and early intervention.

Miranda earned her nursing degree from Spokane Community College in 2008. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Washington State University in 2010, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the same university in 2014. 

Psychiatric nursing or mental health nursing is the appointed position of a nurse who specializes in mental health and cares for people of all ages experiencing mental illnesses or distress. In the United States, a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse trained to provide a wide range of mental health services to patients and families in a variety of settings. PMHNPs diagnose, conduct therapy, and prescribe medications for patients who have psychiatric disorders, medical organic brain disorders or substance abuse problems. As well as providing medication assisted interventions, as she has her waiver for MAT services. They are licensed to provide emergency psychiatric services, psychosocial and physical assessment of their patients, treatment plans, and patient care. They may also serve as consultants or as educators for families and staff.
