Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Monica L. Morman, who serves patients in Gillette, Wyoming.

Dr. Morman is dual fellowship-trained in shoulder and hand surgery and specializes in the treatment of injuries and conditions of the shoulder, elbow, and hand. She served Gillette patients for an additional 15 years prior to joining Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center of Wyoming in 2019. 

Dedicated to helping patients resume their job functions, hobbies, and other recreational activities, she offers the highest level of evidence-based treatment and patient-centered care. She also provides advanced, comprehensive hand and wrist care to patients as a member of the specialized Hand Center of Excellence.  

After graduating summa cum laude from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, Dr. Morman went on to graduate with honors from the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. 

Following her residency, she obtained additional specialty training in hand surgery through a fellowship at The Hand Center of San Antonio. Later, she completed a Harvard Medical School fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, which included training abroad at the Clinique Générale in Annecy, France.

Dedicated to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and surgery of the hand by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Among her professional affiliations, Dr. Morman is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Campbell County Medical Association, the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, the Western Orthopedic Association, and the Wyoming Medical Society.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
